Our routine comprehensive eye examination for private paying adults (18 years of age and older) is $206. This includes a complete assessment of your eyes’ health (including Optomap and visual field screening), vision, optical prescription, and eye coordination followed by recommendations, counselling and treatment services if required. Children under the age of 18 years are covered every 365 days by Saskatchewan Health for a routine comprehensive eye examination. Optomap laser retinal scans are also recommended for children as part of their routine eye examination. The children’s fee for an Optomap is $51.00. Depending on the results of your eye examination, your optometrist may recommend additional testing. The fees for additional testing vary according to the procedures performed.
The fees for contact lenses vary depending on your prescription, the design that is correct for you, and the replacement schedule that is correct for you. It is impossible to quote a fee for contact lenses without examining the patient. Disposable contact lenses start at $59.00 per box.
The cost of eyewear varies depending on your optical prescription, the coatings you select for your lenses, the lens material that is correct for you, and your frame. It is impossible to quote a fee for a pair of glasses without examining the patient or having a valid optical prescription. Frames start at $49.00 and spectacle lenses start at $76.00.
The Canadian Association of Optometrists (CAO) recommends a child’s first eye examination should be at 6 months of age and annual eye examinations starting at 3 years of age. If you have any concerns about the eye health and/or vision of your child, schedule an appointment for him or her at any age. Please see the CAO’s website on Children’s Vision for facts and recommendations regarding children’s vision.
The Saskatchewan Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists recommend that individuals under 18 and over 65 years of age have annual comprehensive eye exams providing they have healthy eyes. Individuals between 18 and 64 years of age are recommended to have a comprehensive eye examination every one to two years providing they have been told by their optometrist that they have healthy eyes. Individuals with eye disease such as cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, etc. are recommended to be evaluated more frequently than age related time intervals. Individuals with general health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, etc. are recommended to be evaluated more frequently than age related time intervals.
You can request an appointment on-line; however this is not a guaranteed date or time. Our staff will contact you via telephone or email to finalize an appointment date and time that is most convenient for you.
Many eye injuries and acute conditions are either ocular emergencies or urgencies and the patient needs to be examined accordingly. Please contact our office and the staff will book you accordingly.
